***My name is Katie Barrow, im 20 years old and from Corner Brook, Newfoundland & Labrador. I have been selected to represent my province in the Miss Canada Globe Pageant 2014 this upcoming AUGUST! Its unbelievable that I have such an amazing opportunity. I was born with a cleft lip, and growing up wasnt always the easiest for me because of all the bullying and teasing I received because I looked a little different. Being a long-term victim of bullying, I decided to get involved with an organization who deals with kids being born with a facial difference. Being a part of Aboutface has helped so much with my self-confidence and has shaped me into the person I am today.The reason I decided to do this pageant is not for superficial reasons. Im hoping by participating in a national beauty pageant I would raise awareness on inner beauty and speak out on behalf of Aboutface in hopes in becoming a role model to other girls, especially those born with facial differences. I honestly believe true beauty comes from within, and we are beautiful in our own unique way
