#MyMusings aka #MonkeyBath #HappyRepublicDay It was on this date in 1930 when the then leaders of #Indias #FreedomStruggle decided to go for #PurnaSwaraj. And it was on this very day, 20 years later, when India decided to be what it is. This was the day when the Constitution of India came into force. The Constitution of India is one of the longest written Constitution of any sovereign country in the world and full marks to the efforts taken by Shri #BaBaSahebAmbedkar for giving us what is the Supreme Law of India. It was on this day that we decided to be a Democratic Secular Republic. Every year the Republic Day #Parade has instilled a sense of pride about our National Forces and our Sovereignty. Today however, the #Media seems to have reduced this to a Republic Day #Charade. Its almost turned into a Circus and perhaps a PR Campaign for #BJP on the eve of the #DelhiElections. Today, it almost appears as if #Obama has done a big favor on us by gracing us with his esteemed presence. Its rather surprising to see that the entire News fraternity is running around everywhere covering every minute of what tea #Obama is having and how many clothes #Modi is changing. The Media is seen giving more coverage to the Security Strength of #POTUS while Wing Commander #PoojaThakur leading the Womans battalion for the first time is just a small piece of news hidden behind the #LOTUS and #KailashSatyarthi fortunately makes it to the list of dignitaries for the Parade but hardly gets a mention :) Even the #SocialMedia is trending with #ObamaInIndia rather than #HappyRepublicDay And its not like this is the first time some Powerful Leader of a Powerful Nation has been invited as the Chief Guest for the Parade. So I wonder whats going on here. Perhaps, we, Indians are still of the mindset that having a US stamp on our passports is the ultimate achievement of our success and a #GreenCard to the land of opportunity to be our ultimate destination. But for me, I am still Proud To Be An Indian because of what India IS and not because Obama is taking time off his busy schedule to take a walk in #HyderabadHouse and sign a Nuclear Treaty. Respect and Salute to all the brave men who contributed to giving us the freedom. Respect and Salute to all those selfless warriors who risk their lives defending our borders from our enemies so that our sovereignty remains intact. And Respect and Salute to all those people who fight even today to try and not let the country fall in the hands of the Corrupt and Criminal. #ProudToBeAnIndian #JaiHind
