#MyOpinion The practice of spanking is descended from the slave master tradition of cracking the whip upon the backs of black folks to create submission through fear. When black families use fear and violence to create obedience they are echoing the tactics of the Willie Lynch era. As a child, I was a Mommas Boy because I hated the terrorizing effects my Fathers belt left on me...in addition to the scars his spankings left. I resented the fact that he left marks on me and never forgave that...even though I did turn out okay. I thank God that i havent had children yet, because I know that without this wake up call in the media, I probably would have continued the abuse learned from over 400 years of racist behavioral programming of slaves. Now that I am enlightened, I will not be a slave master to my child.
