@NCBN Towards an energy-efficient AP! I met American physicist, environmental scientist, writer, and Advisor to Obama Dr. Amory Lovins. His contribution to the field of energy conservation as well as renewable energy remains unparalleled. His name figuring on TIME Magazine’s ‘Worlds 100 most influential people in 2009’ bears ample testimony to his eminence. We had a detailed discussion on achieving progress in energy security, production, utilization and conservation. It bears much significance because nations, including India, are waking up to the immense potential that efficient energy usage holds including reduced costs, preservation of natural resources, and jobs creation. I explained to him how energy efficiency was at the heart of all my policies to strengthen not only our economic competitiveness, but to also lower carbon emissions. With new Cities to be built, I requested Dr. Lovins to lend his precious expertise and innovations to make our buildings and industries more energy efficient. He has expressed his willingness to share his valuable knowledge and the latest in technology. His inputs will greatly help improve energy security – and save our homes and industries money that can be reinvested into the economy.
