** NEW KILL BUYER OWNED HORSES OUT OF QUARANTINE TODAY ** The first three lots are advertised, with more to come tonight. I am going to explain what we do, and how and why we do it. I go to a kill buyers pen, once a month. Ive been working with him and also with his buyers he has in various locations. Weve worked it out, where they leave notes with each horse that rides as to what was said at the sale, and we sort through the horses and read their notes and determine if theyre a candidate for our program. The horses that we evaluate and pass our standards are then loaded by my hauler and brought to me. We sort the horses into lots, and we quarantine them for 14-30 days. Sick horses and the horses in pens with sick horses are treated and quarantined for 30 full days, horses who exhibit no signs of illness or fever are in quarantine for only 14 days. During this time, I personally have to pay for feed and hay, I also have to pay someone to tend to the horses. Once out of quarantine I then have to pay someone to come ride the horses. In general I have to either have the horse back to him within 5 days of leaving quarantine or have it paid for. He does not make me pay for horses upfront, but if something gets hurt, becomes unable to ship, or dies I am still responsible for the purchase price stated upon pick up. I take a huge risk doing this. I personally video every horse, and go over the horse with a fine tooth comb. The horses are then set at a minimum reserve price of what the KILL BUYER WANTED FOR THE HORSE, what I owe him for the horse (this is public knowledge and will not be with held) The horses are open to offers for 2-3 days, and the highest offer at the end of each section gets the horse (unless we find a probable reason why you arent a fit home.) Now, most people wonder what the money over the kill buyers reserve is, and most assume its PROFIT.... However, I spend a small fortune each month on these horses, which the original money was fronted to me by a client of mine. Unfortunately it cost more than the horses bring normally to have any profit left over.... if there ever becomes a time were making profit I would like to donate that to THOROUGHBRED ATHLETES in Oklahoma. Any day after 7 days is $12 a day. ** once you own the horse, we are not responsible for accidents or death.
