*NEW PRICES, NEW WEBSITE* Our new website will go live today, which will see an increase in our prices. A message from Rosemary: I havent increased our prices in nearly 5 years, thus we have held our prices despite the annual rise in inflation and our employees wages .The increase in VAT to 20% of course goes to Customs & Excise and certainly not us !!! So for every £10 our customers spend nearly £2 is ‘ lost’.... Over the past 5 years raw materials have increased in cost considerably, notably ‘ fine hair ‘ which includes Sable & Squirrel. Goat hair hasn’t increased at the same ratio. All our wood for the handles is sourced within the EU and from sustainable forests, which are monitored. This increases the price to us, but we feel it is worth it to try and help do our little bit for the planet. Furthermore, the past 5 years there has been a considerable increase in fuel. You may think this sounds ridiculous and may not have given it any thought BUT all deliveries to us have increased considerably; whether it’s the fine materials we use through to the cartons and jiffy bags we pack the finished goods in – all have to travel and use fuel. Some customers who ‘ travel ‘ will know this already when they pay for a flight for example and there is a fuel excess added! Even the specialist glues and resins we use have increased – we now pay £48 per tin for glue! A few customers of ours will query a price and notably a price increase – it’s inevitable. I would like to remind them how much they pay in the ‘real’ world for a cup of coffee or a slice of cake. Compare our product with these, frankly, rip off prices and we are extremely competitive. Look how much a cinema ticket is and more so the cost of a litre of fuel.....! I would like to remind our UK customers what good value our P&P charges are – compare our £1 charge with a first class stamp to send a birthday card costing around the same – and our customers can order much more than this in weight – and shipping is free for orders over £30. The latter will change in the new year with our 2015 catalogue. On a final note, we remain the most competitive mail order (brush) company out there when you compare us ‘ like for like’ to our competition. I believe this to be because we are unique, we manufacture and sell directly to our customers – the key word here is direct. Every other brush manufacturer goes through a wholesaler, distributor, agent or shop, all of whom have a % cut. I must thank you for your continued support towards my company.
