(NO spoilers here) Just out of #Interstellar in 70MM REAL IMAX, 60 x 80 ft screen. Then a half hour talking about it with the guard at my complex gate. 3:12 am and Im all talked out. My biggest issue with it may or may not have had anything to do with the film. The IMAX sound system drowned out one third of the dialogue. Theres no doubt the image of Interstellar in 70MM IMAX at a REAL IMAX theater is amazing. But the sound mix was way way off. I suspect Ill have to see it again at a 4K multiplex just to catch all the dialogue I missed. Except for McConaugheys mumbles. Never thought Id say this, but I do not recommend seeing Interstellar at the Fort Lauderdale Museum & would not see it there again. The sound mix was atrocious. I was wishing for subtitles. All that said...I loved Interstellar & will have it on my mind for a long time, trying to piece together the logic in a Darko kind of way. With a degree in Geology and a minor in astronomy, I was drooling at the science of the film. It may spur some kids to study physics. I had avoided reading anything about Interstellar but saw a number of tweets referencing 2001. The comparisons are valid. This is a non-spoiler reviewer, though, so much more detail wont be posted here. But it does go where no film has gone before. Besides Nolans obvious spectacle, the film is packed with terrific performances. Matthew McConaughey rules throughout, of course. Interstellars stellar cast starts in Act 1 with John Lithgow as McConaugheys dad and the adorable Mackenzie Foy & Timothee Chalamet as his kids. Chalamet is one of Hollywoods rising stars, with recurring roles on Royal Pains and Homeland, along with a brief but powerful performance in Jason Reitmans Toronto International Film Festival hit Men, Women and Children.
