#NUTSHELL – JANUARY 15th — WHAT’S YOUR DESIRE? – Psalm 37:1-6: Depending on who is asking that question and their intent that question can be either provocative, or benevolent. There have been times when our four year old daughter has come in our room in the middle of the night, cracked open the door and I found myself breaking the silence with a barely conscious response…”what do you want?” Most of the time what our little girl wanted was not a drink of water, or extra covers, but what she wanted was one of us. She simply wanted someone to reassure her that she was safe and that everything was okay. In Psalm 37 David reminds God’s children to not be fearful of what others may be thinking or doing, but instead delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. David goes on to say that when we focus on God, commit our plans to Him, and trust our problems in His care then he will accomplish His very best in our life. Delighting in God and desiring after Him involves making Him our number one priority. In Acts 13:22 the Bible says, “I have found David, son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.” Now that was something extraordinary for God to have said about another human being; to think that their life was one that reflected God’s own heart. If you want to live a revolutionary life and experience all the pleasures that come from God it starts with having a heart that delights in Him. When God looks at your life, does he see someone whose desire and affections are for Him?
