#Nandi_County GOVERNOR LAGAT DIFFERS WITH DEPUTY OVER REFERUNDUM PUSH Nandi Deputy Governor Dominic Biwott has broken ranks with Governor Cleophas Lagat on the ongoing referendum campaigns. Biwott said while the Council of Governors move to demand more funds is dynamic, the referendum calls have lost meaning after it was hijacked by Cord. “I don’t support the referendum anymore as the demands can be effected through a bill in Parliament,” Biwott said in Kapsabet town yesterday during a cleanup exercise. Lagat is one of the three Jubilee governors leading the pesa mashinani referendum push. Others are Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto and his Embu counterpart Peter Munya. Two months ago, Biwott declared that Cord was not welcome to spread their referendum agenda in Nandi county, but the sentiments infuriated Lagat, who said the county is not a closed zone. Lagat has vowed to remain steadfast in the push for the referendum, saying their fight for resources has nothing to do with the Cord agenda and that their issues are separate. Tuesday, Biwott said the Cord leadership is pushing the country into a referendum to gauge their popularity the same way they did in 2005 and founded ODM party. Via: #Sailor
