"Neither party expected for the war the magnitude or the duration - TopicsExpress

"Neither party expected for the war the magnitude or the duration which it has already attained. Neither anticipated that the cause of the conflict might cease with or even before the conflict itself should cease. Each looked for an easier triumph, and a result less fundamental and astounding."--Abraham Lincoln Aint it the damn truth? Lincoln said that about the Civil War going on when he gave his second inaugural address. Civil wars are always nasty and uncivil. Its a poorly named war. When family fights, things get ugly thats just how it is. Ive been in my own civil war for about ten years now. Theres been extended delays to the fighting but much like Korea nothing has been resolved, just a line of death no one dare cross. You know things are screwed up when your mad about this thing then the other person is mad, then that thing that you were mad over, you stop being mad about it but your still mad just because the other person is still mad. "Just move on" Not that simple. Think of the Hutu and Tutsi. After a genocide, you cant just go back to business as usual. Someone has to be held accountable but at the same time both sides are guilty. So what can you do? Welcome to the 38th parallel.
