It will conclude with immersion of the idols and images of the deities in different rivers and canals amid exchanging greetings of Bijoya Dashami on October 4. Artisans are giving their finishing touch to the idols. The members of the law enforcement agencies have taken all precautionary steps against the evil quarters. The devotees are seen passing a very busy time preparing to welcome the goddess to the earth. JESSORE: Much enthusiasm now prevails among the Hindu Community at different places in eight upazilas of the district in connection with the five-day long Durga Puja, one week ago of the festival. District Puja Udjapon Committee secretary Dipankar Das Ratan said almost 85 per cent works of the idols had already been completed and rest of the works would be completed within next five days. District administration and Puja Udjapon Committee sources said Durga Puja will be held at 616 mandaps this year. District administration is taking special security measures for ensuring safe, secured and peaceful celebrations of the festival. Jessore Superintendent of Police Anisur Rahman said they have undertaken stringent security measures for smooth holding of the festival all over the district. MEHERPUR: Preparation for holding Durga Puja, one of the biggest religious festivals of the Hindu community is going on in full swing. The artisans are found busy in making images of deity Durga at temples in different places of three upazilas of the district. District administration and Meherpur district Puja Udjapan Committee sources said, a total 30 puja mandaps are being set up in the district this year. Twelve in Sadar upazila while ten at Gangni and 8 at Mujibnagar upazila. Deputy Commissioner Mahmud Hossain disclosed that 500 kgs of rice allocated for each puja mandaps. Newly joined Police Super Hamidul Alam said that special security measures have been taken in order to celebrate the Puja festival peacefully in the district. BARISAL : Preparations for Durga Puja celebrations are going on in full swing in the district, despite high price of raw materials used for making idols coupled with increase of other costs, affects this years preparations for five-day Sharodiya Durga Puja; in the district, said Rakhal Chandra Dey, the district puja udjapon parishad president. The festival will start at more than 550 puja-mandops (alter) of the district. The Barisal district Puja Udjapon Parishad sources said this year number of Durga Puja mandops may be increased at least five percent as there would be enough time for making idols, they said. Shohidul Alam, deputy commissioner Barisal, said administration will allot special financial grants for puja mandops while special security, undisrupted electricity and water supply, traffic control arrangement would be made for worshipers and visitors during the fastival. Moulvibazar: This year Durga Puja will be celebrated in over 750 Puja-Mondops (worship place of Durga) at all seven upazilas in the district including tea gardens. Tofayel Ahmed, superintendent of police in Moulvibazar, told the daily observer that they have been taken security measure in three stratus to make the Puja-festival safe and secure. LALMONIRHAT: Five upazilas in Lalmonirhat district are buzzing with the last moment preparations for celebrating upcoming Durga Puja. A total of 398 Puja Mandops are being set up in the district this year, said Lalmonirhat district Puja Udjapon Parishad President Prodeep Kumar Roy. The well decorated Mandops and the best artisans will be awarded as like previous years, he said. The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Lalmonirhat Habibur Rahman said, special financial grants would be sanctioned for Puja Mandops this year. Special security measures, uninterrupted electricity supply and traffic management would be ensured for the convenience of the worshippers and the visitors, he also said. KISHOREGANJ: Sharadiya Durga Puja, the largest festival of the Hindus will be celebrated at Kishoreganj with full sanctity. Accordind to sources, Durga Puja will be held at 373 Mandops in the district. In this connection, a meeting was arranged at the office of the Deputy Commissioner. The meeting was presided over S M Alam, Deputy Commissionner, Kishoreganj and a large number of people coming from different sections of society attended the meeting.
