[News] Why were looking forward to the 2015 comeback of Koreas oldest idol Shinhwa Korea’s oldest idol group Shinhwa recently announced its return. The group will be releasing its 12th studio album in February. The album comes a year and nine months since its last album, its 11th, released in 2013. Shinhwa will also hold its 17th anniversary concert from March 21st to 22nd at the Olympic Gymnastics Stadium. The reason Shinhwa has so many fans looking forward to its comeback is because it’s known for always coming up with something new to show. ‘This Love’, the title song of the group’s 11th studio album ‘THE CLASSIC’ released in 2013, introduced ‘voguing dance’ (a dance in which the dancer poses like a model within a set area of motion) to Korea, surprising the K-Pop scene. Even before this song, Shinhwa has attempted new types of choreography and concepts through such songs as ‘Wild eyes’, ‘perfect man’, ‘Brand New’, and ‘Venus’. In the past it used to mostly emphasize its manliness, but now it takes on new challenges as a veteran singer, never settling for what it already has to try something new. This is why Shinhwa’s comeback means a lot to the scene as a whole. The recent back-to-the-90s trend is also feeding the excitement toward Shinhwa’s comeback. God reunited last year to enjoy great success, Fly to the Sky broke its five-year hiatus, Seo Taiji made his own comeback, and MBC’s recent ‘I Am a Saturday Saturday Singer’ special sparked nostalgia for the good old days and the singers from back then. Shinhwa debuted in 1998, and has been active since then without any member changes. It thus holds both memories from the past and an image as a trendy and current singer. This characteristic will probably help the group satisfy both those who miss the old days and those who love the music of today. Many fans suffered when idol group members left their group last year. SNSD’s Jessica, EXO’s Kris and Luhan, Kara’s Nicole and Kang Jiyoung, and MBLAQ’s Lee Joon and Chundung left their groups, shocking the public and their fans. This is why Shinhwa, which has remained together as one without any member changes for 17 years, acts as an excellent role model. This is also why we can’t help but look forward to what Shinhwa has in store for us this year. Source: Asia Today trans: shinhwastuff.tumblr
