****News of a donation fund for Karina Hansens legal fees*** We at J4KH are not affiliated this fund or site but we do want you to know that a fund has been established. We do hope this will help the Hansen family in their fight for Karina. Stig Gerdes started the donation fund for Karina. Stig Gerdes is the doctor that runs the organization @I Klemme I Det Kommunale System which aims to help people who are mistreated by the Danish welfare system. He is the author of the presentation we recently translated and shared on our site. The funds are to go towards legal fees. The detailed information is below. We wanted to share this with all of you who have asked about donating. We have spoken with Ketty Hansen, Karinas mother, to ensure they approve of this fund. We have also double-checked the numbers. The family told us that their legal bills so far have cost them about 500,000 DKK in the last 2 years and this is quite understandably too much for the family to handle by themselves. Remember, Karina also needed legal help for almost a year prior to her incarceration. I have asked The Tryg Foundation for help, and they say that I should apply again on September 1st, and that there is a 4-month wait for replies, so this crowdfunding will last the rest of the year at least. Ketty & Per Hansen have given me permission to answer the following and I can therefore confirm that there is an ongoing trial as the ruling (from the City Court) that Karina Hansen is illegally incompetent is being brought before the District Court, since the City Court, without any case proceedings, upheld the ruling of incompetence. Even though Karina Hansen is declared legally incompetent, the parents can do this as they are the closest next-of-kin. There is no possibility to receive legal aid since cases of this nature are exempted from being covered and the District Court refused to grant free legal aid to the parents since they believe that Karina Hansens parents do not need legal representation. Removal of the legal incompetence declaration is the only thing that will enable Karina Hansen to get in a position that will let her act for herself and demand compensation. The District Court case has been running since September when the City Court made its decision. What the economic costs will amount to is hard to say, but the City Court case has already cost the parents about 70,000.00 DKK, and the District Court case will not be any cheaper. In the District Court, all materials must be produced in 5 copies and there will also be travel and accommodation expenses related to the case proceedings which will take place in Viborg. Therefore, it can easily amount to 100,000 DKK, as the first 30,000 has already been used. For this reason, the parents will be deeply grateful for any kind of support.
