#Nil_Pakhi asked... What is antimatter? Please keep it simple for understanding. _____ ans: (i ll try keep it simple) well the main aim of physics is to study nature on its most fundamental levels. And at fundamental level we study sub-atomic particles like electrons,protons,neutrons etc. When we study them,their characteristic properties....like electron, what we encounter another particle of same mass as electron but opposite characteristics to that of electron..and this particle is known as positron. Well if electron is normal particle then positron is its antiparticle. How these two differ-is they have opposite spins,charges and other quantam numbers like baryon number ,lepton number. Similarly we can have an antiparticle of proton i,e antiproton and that of neutron etc. Now what is anti matter. If u have a normal matter made of protons,neutrons nd electrons ,its anti matter is made of positrons,antiprotöns and antineutrons...they will have different properties...but similar in mass and size and shape Now if u find a man with same appearance as urs bt walking by ahead instead of legs...is ur Anti-Nil :) and u knw ,scientists reveal that gravity has negative effect on antimatters. I mean to say if You are falling down,,ur Anti-Nil will fall up :) .the antiparticles in nature are created everywhere in the universe where high-energy particle collisions take place...though thse colsions are very rare. And artificially they are produced in lab but it costr as much as $25 billiön to produce 1 gm of positron... And recently we have made antihydrogen which may cost as much as $62.5 trilion for its one mole :)
