“Not everyone who calls me ‘Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but only those who do what my Father in heaven wants him to do. There will be a lot of people who’ll say to me on Judgment Day, ‘Lord, didn’t we preach in your name? Wasn’t it your name we invoked when we performed exorcisms? Didn’t we put on public spectacles in your honor?’ And I’ll say to those people, ‘To be honest, I’m drawing a blank. I’ve absolutely no idea who any of you are. Leave me alone! It sounds to me like all of you just like to make a commotion!’ “Anyone who puts everything I just said to all of you into practice will build their lives upon a firm foundation, just like an experienced construction-worker does when he builds a house on solid rock. Fierce thunderstorms can rain down on it; flash-floods can crash against it; hurricanes can blow against it. Yet, the house will remain standing because he built it upon a solid foundation. But anyone who doesn’t put everything I just said into practice is like an idiot who decided to build his house on top of a pile of sand. When the fierce thunderstorms rain down, and when the flash-floods crash against it, and when the hurricanes blow, it’s going to come crashing down like a house of cards!” When Jesus had finished talking, the crowds were dumbfounded by what he had just taught them because he taught like someone who had the credentials to back up what he said, unlike how the biblical scholars taught. ~ Jesus, As Matthew Tells It The New Peace Treaty: A New Translation of the New Testament
