‘O Rama, doing what is appropriate at all times, the mind should be held in the following manner: ‘Not attached to the actions, to the thoughts or to the objects; not attached to the heavens above nor what is below nor in the other directions, nor to external relations, nor to the natural movement of the inner senses, nor to the life-force; the mind should not rest in the head nor inside the palate, nor between the eyebrows nor at the tip of the nose, nor in the mouth nor in the eyes, nor in the darkness nor in the light, not even in the cave of the heart, neither in a state of wakefulness, nor in dream nor in sleep, not even in the wide pure space, nor in the different colours, neither in movement nor in steadiness, neither in the beginning nor in the middle, nor in the end, nor elsewhere, neither at a distance nor nearby, nor in front, not in objects, nor in the self, not in the sense-experiences, nor in a deluded state of happiness, neither in concepts nor in percepts. ‘The mind should rest in pure consciousness as pure consciousness with just a little externalised movement of thought, as if aware of the utter vanity of the objects of this world.’ - Venkatesanandas Supreme Yoga, October 17
