Here the Apostle Paul is pleading with his protégé, Timothy, to guard the true doctrine and avoid such useless wrangling. Of course, the only way to know the truth from the false is to be a student of the Word and be led by the Holy Spirit. Every believer should be grounded and rooted in the Word of God and in prayer, which is where our strength for the faith comes from. Dear Lord, help us to navigate through the falsehood of this world and all its profane babblings and contradictions, amen.
