“O beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain, for purple mountains majesties above the fruited plain. America! America! Sea to shining sea.” ―Katharine Lee Bates Question…When was the last time you sat under a spacious sky, contemplating a purple mountain or a wave of anything? Ah Ha! Well I did it this morning, and a couple of days ago and will again tomorrow….okok, I know, not fair…I’m kinda retired…but I used to try once in awhile before now. Thing is this is really a model for life as a whole I think. Our crazy wonderful world doesn’t afford, encourage or even sometimes seemingly sanction (say that three times fast) a life of brotherhood with a shining sea or anything else that isn’t a part of our mandatory hustle and bustle. Julia Cameron in her landmark book ‘The Artist’s Way’ suggest we make a date with ourselves…an actual appointment to play… ya… you need to find time to play with yourself... ☺ or just sit and contemplate beauty or sing a little ditty and smile or just take a little longer than usual deep breath and say Thank You Lordie for all that surrounds me. OK, enough said. I’m on my way to see a silly sandpiper (say that 3 times fast) at the Ocean . Hugs More Hugs Me
