...OF CCTVs, AND THE FARCICAL GHANA POLICE The Ghana Police Service are at it again with their Concert Party antics. Starrfmonline reports that a certain Public Affairs Director of the Accra Regional Police command, ASP Afia Tenge, has said that the Service will not “hesitate to seek a court order” to obtain CCTV footage from the hotel, if that is what it will take to secure credible evidence to bring conclusion to the matter!!! If she did say that then I will take a very dim view of the Service. I will be shocked that they have not done so to date, and worse, at this stage they are still talking about IFs!!!! In addition to the many procedural errors, the lack of rigour and attention to detail is baffling to say the least. If for nothing at all, the high profile of the accused should have motivated them to get it right from day one if there was to be any reasonable chance of a successful prosecution, and more importantly, to avoid appearances of wilful complicity in an acquittal. Unless, of course, they are also starstruck! I will advise the Service to quit the embarrassing kaakaamotobi concert they are indulging in and start behaving like they think!!! Because right now, if KKD is guilty, it appears to me that the Ghana Police Service is determined to help him walk free. Now, to the CCTV footage itself. Its a little befuddling to hear people, as usual, in their haste to criminalise people, already casting all sorts of aspersions at African Regent Hotel, and demanding an explanation why they will have a CCTV footage of clients bathrooms. You folks need to stop right there and start using your heads!!! I dont believe there is ever CCTV coverage in their bedrooms and bathrooms and any suggestion of such is highly unfair to an international hotel of their repute. All hotels have CCTV coverage of common, open areas like lobbies, corridors, bars, restaurants, kitchens, lifts/escalators, and offices. Never clientele rooms, much less their bathrooms. I dont want to believe that people are wilfully propagating such malicious, palpably false information for reasons other than justifiable outrage. Its not cool. At all.
