“OLD-TIME HOCKEY DYING A RAPID DEATH; THANK Die-hards who advocate “Hockey the Canadian Way, of Rock ‘em Sock ‘em Hockey” have become a dying breed and thankfully not a life too soon. If you sit and watch CBC Hockey Night in Canada long enough you get the sense that the game has passed the commentators bye…or at least one dinosaur. On Saturday night may 25 these immortal words, “You’ll be sorry, watch and see you’ll be sorry!” His reference was to Hockey Canada passing new rules for all players under the age of 13 being restricted from bodychecking. The rule was passed earlier that day at their annual AGM, (Annual General Meeting). What case did Cherry make for his ludicrous statement? He had none. He had no idea of what research had been presented at the AGM, had no idea of what consequences of body contact had on the youthful brain. Had no stats to show that no damage was caused by th ., Don Cherry on the coaches Corner or post game uttered body contact in children under the age of 13. None,, nothing, nada!!! Can someone please tell me why CBC allows a high paid but ignorant spokesperson address an issue he knows nothing about? A person, who may be directing children and their uninformed parents into a world of physical and economic, hurt because of misinformation from Cherry? A person so ignorant of the facts, appears that he has not is is incapable of reading the scientific documentation that exists about brain injuries to children from contact, collision and combat sports. Someone who is unwilling to address the most critical development in all youth athletics in the past 100 years? Ignorance is not bliss in the Don Cherry case, it is unabashed disregard for the health and wellbeing of our children. It deserves a response from Hockey Canada in the most serious of messages: “Remove Don Cherry before another child is killed on the ice!: Now that body checking is outlawed from the game Cherry’s income from his absurd videos championing the brutal side of the game, will take a nose dive along with the buffoonery that is Don Cherry. Just goes to show how far humanity has fallen in Canada as a result of our own willingness to listen to the rants and rages of an intellectual moron. THE HOCKEY DOCTORS
