#OPEN_LETTER_TO_ ALL_LAWYERS_IN_ NIGERIA . In Nigeria, Most lawyers motto is an Accused person is innocent until proven BROKE, No money-No justice. The innocent poor man is convicted while the guilty rich man is discharged and acquittal in court. Lawyers who are said to be priest in the temple of justice, most no longer render free legal aid to the poor. They are willing to sit behind and watch a poor innocent man suffer injustice instead of wasting their precious time to help him establish his innocence. Most lawyers are looking for that rich man , that big shot, it doesnt matter if he is guilty or not. Nobody cares for that poor innocent man whom knows little or nothing of his fundamental human rights. The criminal justice system in Nigeria is in state of paralysis effectively unable to dispense justice in a fair and speedy manner for the poor masses. Every aspect of the system from law enforcement to the judiciary, through the prison is characterized by a combination of inefficiency, corruption and lack of due process which are often targeted to the poor. Seeking legal aid and instituting an action in nigeria is very costly and also takes a long period of time, in the sense that, legal aid and instituting an action in court is only affordable to the rich. The poor citizens always find a way to circumvent lawyers and court actions. This is why victims of injustice are mostly the poor citizens of the country who have no money to fight there rights by instituting an action in court. The court, lawyers, police are normally highly caution while dealing with the rich, but less caution when it comes to a poor man. The free legal practitioner assigned to the poor by the court , show little or no care . I encourage my fellow counsels , all legal practitioners and everybody working under the umbrella of the nigerian judicial system to render as much as possible free legal aid to the needy. The poor people may not have much material things to give in return, but there prayers can go along way. SAY NO TO INJUSTICE IN NIGERIA
