#OVERCOME - Thanking God for the gift of life and the "appointment" given 23 years ago. Happy Birthday to my oldest son, Leon Stimpson - so very proud. Life changed in a major way that day. Perfection was never attainable. Keeping African American boys serving God, alive, educated, developed in the inner-city (or elsewhere) comes with a special set of challenges. Many others are already dead (physically, spiritually, mentally, emotionally, etc.) and/or defeated long before 23 (see their faces, can call their names). Praying for all of us, especially Leon (and his brother), that God will give continue to give strength to meet and overcome each phase of life yet to be encountered. The advice is still the same at every age - keep God first, always - continue to defy the odds and dispel the myths - you are uniquely made, divinely led.
