Ok. Addressing children on teachers day by a prime minister is certainly a good idea.Calling teachers day by any other name is also a matter of choice and attributing motives to the renaming is childish.But why make this listening to speech a mandatory exercise and that too on school campus irrespective of the fact whether there is any infrastructure or not in schools across India,whether the school is on holiday or not ,is certainly beyond comprehension.Children can be persuaded to watch it at their home ifschool or children are not in session could have been an option.Another option for schools not having so many tv sets ,could have to been to air it on All India Radio and many schools have loudspeakers in class rooms for their prayers and it could have been broadcast thru sound system to classrooms.Ham handed approach unnecessarily vitiates atmosphere and gets avoidable opposition.Any compulsion in such issues raises hackles and spoils atmosphere for even a good idea.#justthinking.
