#OkoaMombasa Fort Jesus is maybe one of the greatest parts of Mombasas history. My first visits to Fort Jesus was on school trips. When you walk through the Fort you will actually re-live the days of the Great Siege. You can almost hear the cannons exploding and visualize the Portuguese soldiers who were trapped in there for many days and remember their suffering and perserverance. When I look back into this history I wonder what all the fighting and animosity of who owns Mombasa is all about. In the evenings, you can sit outside overlooking the sea, as you sip your kahawa tungu and sweets as you let the days weariness wash away. I did that earlier this year and took some pictures there. If you are a Mombasa resident and do not know the history of this great town, please go and read it, then go back and visit Fort Jesus with a new perspective in mind. You will realize that we really are one, whether we like it or not.
