“One Step at a Time” Words echoed in a cracked, humble tone. Broken, scratched, syllables that sounded like a song. Voices crying out in humble adoration, Singing praises to the King of all generations. Now maybe professionals, these singers would never be, But they sung about the Son and how He had set them free. Free from the burden and penalty of sin, Pardoned by One who’s closer than a friend! Footsteps could be heard through the ruffling of the leaves, As weakened knees trod the pathways among the trees. Spreading the Gospel, proclaiming the news of Liberty, While the mountains and rivers proclaim God’s majesty! Tired and hungry, and quickly growing weak, Every step is a burden upon swollen, aching feet. If it seems that you’re all alone with no one to help, Don’t give up! Just hold on and TAKE ANOTHER STEP! When it seems that you’re forsaken or that you’re the only one, Then it’s time to speed the pace and really start to run. When you feel you’re down and there’s no one near to care, No one to comfort you…no one your grief to share, I say, quicken your steps and pick up your pace, Run well the beaten course of life’s precious race. Then in the battles for God, your life will radiantly shine, When you walk with God, just ONE STEP AT A TIME!
