“One day, I had a conversation with my mother about how my worldview was starting to change, and she said something to me that I will hold dear to my heart for as long as I live. She looked at me with the weary eyes of someone who had experienced enough dogmatism to last a lifetime, and said, ‘Im tired of hating people.’ In that instant, I realized how much negative energy it takes to hold that hatred inside of you.” In memory of the victims of the 9/11 attacks, we are posting this moving TED talk from Zak Ebrahim. Zaks father was a terrorist convicted for the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Here Zak talks about his struggle to overcome fanaticism, hatred, and bullying, and to choose peace instead. May each of us work within our own sphere of influence to break down the walls of prejudice, fear, and hatred. We never know who we will influence. ted/talks/zak_ebrahim_i_am_the_son_of_a_terrorist_here_s_how_i_chose_peace
