:One of my Libyan brothers pm-ed asking why can I not return to Libya when others have? As I told my most trusted person, its not as simple as that. The Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines has placed Libya under Alert Level 4 and the Philippine President has given the order of the repatriation of its citizens out of Libya and ordered the Bureau of Immigration to bar any of its citizens from going to Libya in all air/seaport.. I was told, anyone caught and anyone who violates face the possibility of being blacklisted by the government. Sure, I can do as the others have done and I certainly need the job. But fact is it would be a great insult to my elders. Both my grandfather and father are former ambassador plenipotentiary- my grandfather was an ambassador for Libya from 1986-1992 and my father was not just a presidential appointee in 1994 but he was an ambassador duly confirmed by the Upper and Lower House (Senate and Congress) of the Philippine Congress Committee on Appointment though he never took his post. Then I have my fathers brother and two brothers in law who are all currently officers of the DFA, the very agency that decides the alert levels for its citizens. I can but I wont. For now, Al qadda wal qadr. Fi amanillah!
