One year old Peppermint got himself stuck in a cage at Manhattan - TopicsExpress

One year old Peppermint got himself stuck in a cage at Manhattan ACC. Did he go wandering too far from home? Did his owner no longer want him? Whatever the reason, Peppermint’s in real trouble now—he’s on tomorrow’s euthanasia list! This adorable little guy did everything he thought was asked of him. Indeed, during his behavioral eval, the assessor’s comments include “walked calmly on leash and was friendly, sociable and very interested in interacting with handler during assessment… jumped up on lap often”. He got 1’s and 2’s on almost all the Safer items, including the dog on dog test. BUT, when that big plastic hand tried to take his food away, Peppermint took offense and tried to bite it—after all, a guy’s got to draw the line someplace! For that, this little sweetheart was deemed New Hope only, meaning he can only be pulled by a rescue. So tonight, Peppermint’s only chance at seeing tomorrow night is for someone to start applying to rescues to foster or adopt him. He’s already neutered and said to be in good health, so Peppermint’s ready to go at a moment’s notice. If you’re the person smiling at his “Nobody messes with my food antics”, then start working right now to get him. Tomorrow will be too late and this sweet cutie pie will be gone forever.
