***Only Me*** Brian was not home, and I usually NEVER have - TopicsExpress

***Only Me*** Brian was not home, and I usually NEVER have anxiety about being alone with the kids. Tonight I was jolted out of a sound sleep due to a piercing alarm sound that only went off once. Being new to this house, I had no idea what it was--- house alarm? Car alarm? Carbon monoxide detector? To calm my nerves, I jumped on Facebook-- ha. The first post I see is from Amy Harbach referring to her fear of a break-in, so THAT didnt help! Now Im wide awake, freaking out, and listening to every tiny sound in and around the house. My anxiety continued to build, so I figured that Brian Kaule and Shari Winslow would want me to have it checked out. I havent called 911 in 13 years, but by now my anxiety is so high I feel like Im going to puke. Feeling like an idiot, I asked for someone to come check out the alarm sound (what if it WAS carbon monoxide?) and to make sure the house was secure. We have had people in and out working on house projects. Maybe a door was left unlocked? The end result? The dehumidifier in the basement has overflowed, causing an alarm-- and a flood. Thankfully, my house IS secure, and the sweet officer helped me move our remaining unpacked boxes out of the path of the water at 4:00 in the morning. Perhaps I should bake him cookies.
