#OperationAbuUbaydah launched. Winter in Syria has now arrived and the plight of millions of Muslims in the country has become severe. In response, Ummah Welfare Trust plans to deliver a wide-ranging winter relief operation worth £1 million. The relief operation, named after the great companion Abu Ubaydah ibn al Jarrah RadhiyAllahu anhu, will help tens of thousands of Syrians see through the winter inshaAllah. Abu Ubaydah RadhyAllahu anhu, who is today buried in Shaam, was one of ten Companions given glad tidings of Paradise. May Allah have mercy on him; he was a Companion who exemplified generosity, abstinence and sacrifice for the Ummah. Inspired by his life and actions, Ummah Welfare Trust aims to follow in his footsteps. Beginning this December (2013), the charity will target to: - Distribute 25,000 blankets in camps & villages across Idlib - Provide winter clothing to 4,000 families in Idlib - Provide food packages and winter allowances to 1,700 families in Aleppo - Distribute 3,250 packs of baby biscuits in Idlib - Support 100 orphans - Establish a bread factory in al-Qadra and provide bread to 1,250 persons daily - Deliver winter and food supplies to besieged families in Ghouta and other suburbs of Damascus - Provide life-saving surgery equipment to Babul Hawa hospital The goals of Project Abu ‘Ubaydah are ambitious but inshaAllah can be achieved with your help. Ummah Welfare Trust asks you to give for the following: - One blanket = £6 (Zakah/Sadaqah/Lillah) - Blankets for one family = £30 (Zakah/Sadaqah/Lillah) - Orphan support for one year = £400 (Zakah/Sadaqah/Lillah) - Running costs for the bread factory = £100 per day (Sadaqah/Lillah) - Babul Hawa hospital lifesaving equipment = Any amount (Sadaqah/Lillah) Please open your heart in every way you can inshaAllah; for the sums of money needed for this project are not really great and yet the rewards are alhamdulillah.
