“Our Daily Bread” 1 Kings 19: 9 There he went into a cave and spent the night. And the word of the LORD came to him: “What are you doing here, Elijah?” Just imagine after all the running of forty nights and forty days, only to be asked by God what are you doing here? I am talking of the highly anointed prophet of God, who just heard a word from Jezebel through a messenger and become very scared and just flees. Jezebel was very cruel and what she says she carries out, but Elijah was more powerful because he depended upon God. This is the man who prays and gets result just like that. If you check, Jezebel sent a messenger she didn’t confront him herself. You can’t touch the anointed of God and remain the same, there is a hell to pay if you do. The mistake Elijah made was giving his ear to the threats breathed by Jezebel and never consulted God, that’s the state the devil want us to be in today, he sends agents/threats with brave message but it matters how you respond to such. Do you run, do you get scared, do you cry, do you get stressed? Believe me when you act like Elijah, you miss your opportunity to see God. Check what God says to him in verse 15, go back the way you came, it’s another forty nights and forty days back. That’s what we are doing today, we run when no one is chasing us (can a man or woman of God be chased by the devil?), simply because we don’t hear and never care to hear from God. The worst part as you go down to verse 16, he was replaced as prophet (imagine, he pray that there won’t be rain until his word, he rose a boy from death and pray for fire to consume sacrifice that was poured water on it and the stone even got burned – when replaced it means he will never see those things). Sometimes when we run, we even run to the wrong places where the devil want us to be (imagine in a cave). God is not a respecter of men, when you got that anointing ensure that you keep it in a way you conduct your-life/self. I pray today that you make it a mission to hear from God before making any decision in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen! Jesus Christ loves you!
