“Our Lady of York” 2010 artiste peintre kristy kilpatrick “In Memory of Don Juan of Austria” It all started with a dream I had around October 7th, 2009. I would say two weeks before I happened upon a picture of Our Lady of Fatima. I dreamt of a young man, whom resembled my husband, just standing there in a very big room with very high ceiling. He was wearing French silk knickers with matching jacket, dainty shoes and with curls of brown hair that came to his bottom. I thought that must be a wig. He gazed at me forever. I noticed behind him a body of vast water with ships that reminded me of looking out over the Puget Sound – we were on hill overlooking this which seemed of importance. I thought the dream odd but if I were painting someone they would be staring at me, so I dismissed it as just one of those things that happen. Furthermore, the morning of October 17th my scheduled student cancelled. I was all ready to go to the Central Market and paint, when ACMoore called to let me know that a student was there waiting for me. I told them that I would be right there. When I got there I was stunned to find that my new student’s name was (Serafina). The same but different spelling as the name of the chickadee I had just finished. Which was Seraphina? The name comes from Seraphim the highest order of angels. During the course of the lesson she told me that she had been widowed twice and that she was married at Our Lady of Fatima in Baltimore. Later, I went on the computer to find out more about the Lady of Fatima. I went to the site “America needs Fatima” and there before me was the young man that I saw in my dream. Don Juan of Austria, the supreme commander of the Holy League against the Turks at the Battle of Lepanto 1571. The flag of Our Lady of Guadalupe flew victoriously from the masks during the Battle of Lepanto.
