#PARSHA #SHABBOS #ELUL This weeks Parsha includes the infamous curses that will befall the Jewish people if we stray from our connection with Hashem and His Torah. It is read yearly before Rosh Hashana and this timing, in the words of our Sages, signifies may the old year and its curses end, and may the new year and its blessings begin. Surely we need to be thankful for all of the wonderful things that this year brought us. Even so, it was a difficult year for the Jewish people,in general, due to the war in Gaza and, in particular, for Neveh due to the loss of two of our special talmidim, Yis Polstein and David Gordon AH. I was thinking about the positive attitutudes of both Yis and David and how they used their lives to turn the curses into blessings. The profound difficulties they experienced were springboards for personal growth and encouraging others. I could elaborate, but I think you guys know what Im talking about. Its fine to daven for only good things this coming year. But being realistic, we should also daven for the clarity and strength to see the opportunities for growth and change in every occurance in our lives, to find the light even in the darkness. May Hashem help us to have a year filled with obvious blessing as well as the ability to find and draw out the blessing from that which seems to be the opposite. Have a wonderful Shabbos.
