‘PASENSYA NA LANG MUNA’: LA TENORIO PLEADS FOR FANS’ UNDERSTANDING AS GINEBRA LEARNS TRIANGLE Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s legion of fans will just have to be a little more patient as the team implements a complicated system under new head coach Jeffrey Cariaso. Gin Kings star LA Tenorio knows exactly how difficult it is to install the triangle offense, and pleaded for fans for understanding. “Pasensya lang muna sa mga nag-aantay. I ran this offense for almost four, five years. Alam na alam ko ito at hindi ganun kadali talaga. It takes a lot of time, hard work. Mahaba ito, matagal,” said Tenorio, who ran the system under coach Tim Cone at Alaska. Cariaso served as an assistant coach for Cone with the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers before moving to the Ginebra camp. Tenorio notes that even the Mixers, who have been running the system for three years, are still figuring out all the intricacies. “I’m pretty sure, even yung San Mig Coffee, they’re still learning the triangle. Kaibahan lang, magkakakakilala na talaga sila at matagal na sila sa mga big-time games. I’m very sure, mararating rin namin yun,” said Tenorio. “We’re in the stage na nasa learning process pa rin.” The Gin Kings won their first three games before their streak was halted by the Mixers in Sunday’s Manila Clasico. Despite the loss, Tenorio saw a lot of good things for the Gin Kings. “For me, it’s a good sign. There’s a lot of positive things na nangyayari doon sa team naming ngayon,” said Tenorio. “San Mig Coffee is the best team in the PBA right now. Ito yung ginawa naming gauge kung nasaan na talaga yung offense namin. It’s a good learning experience for us. Parang ang nangyari Baby Triangle versus Lolo Triangle. Pero I saw a lot of positive things.”
