(PLEASE EXPERIENCE IN HIGH DEFINITION) In August of 2013 we started hosting meetings at my friend Kevins loft/rooftop with all the staff and volunteers connected to our wellness and adventure festival called The Xanadu Life which we are throwing again next Sunday January 25th at a 50 acre wildlife sanctuary in Orange County (more info at the bottom of this post). https://youtube/watch?v=gdaY-0HvjCE&spfreload=10 After the festival ended we continued to use the space to host group discussions for our fellow creatives on universal topics including the paralysis of fear, emotional intelligence, and the timeline of trust to name a few. So far weve hosted 45 sessions with a little over 1000 unique creative individuals partaking in the experiment. As people volunteer to take the mic we ask them to introduce themselves, tell us about their passion, and share a couple thoughts on that nights subject. After the first couple people talk on the mic, this warm sense of comfort and support fills the space and an openness occurs allowing people to speak from the heart and connect with other like minded individuals who are not only passionate about what they do but feel strongly about things that we can all relate to. After the open mic people usually gravitate towards each other based on similar passions or insights shared and aside from collaborating on cool projects together, many of us have become very close friends. One of my goals in 2015 is to share some of those moments by creating a tasteful and inspirational series that would allow more people to be a part of our conversation and hopefully inspire some to even host their own group discussion nights wherever they may be in the world. Although this concept is not new by any means, I do feel that now more than ever it is critical for people to re-engage with each other through heartfelt group conversations and expressions which is why I am so excited to share this with you all. In addition to the group discussions I will also be sitting down with movement leaders for an in depth interview series which I will be releasing as well. *************************************************************************** Also, I have some more exciting news guys! This January not only was I asked to help coordinate the music lineup and MC the Xanadu Animal Adventure Festival but Ive also been asked to host the speaker series which will take place during the middle of the festival and include one or two previous TED Talks speakers in addition to a Summit Series speaker!!! Anybody that knows me knows that outside of events, music, filmmaking, and radio, two of my biggest passions are interviewing and hosting as well as facilitating moments where knowledge is shared which I do believe is my underlying purpose in life. As much as I love hosting The Meeting of the Minds and even though weve brought together over a 1000 individual creatives over the past year and a half, we are limited to a capacity of 50 a session which makes our Xanadu festivals the only opportunity for us to have an ultimate rooftop family reunion, and because well be holding our next festival at a 50 acre wildlife resort in the OC next Sunday, Im hoping that everybody from The Meeting of the Minds will come through and support the magic and history we are about to make.
