(( PLEASE PRAY FOR THESE CHILDREN)) In the 1880s, the United States introduced the mandatory education of Native American children in boarding schools. These children were forced to speak English and punished for speaking in their native tongue. The separation from their families ensured that Native children had a separation from their culture and traditions with the motto Kill the Indian, save the man. After the boarding schools were closed, state governments continued to remove Native American children from families under the guise of child welfare. After the federally-mandated closing of these harsh, racial, abusive, and all-White run Indian Boarding Schools by the end of the 20th century, the American Indian Policy Review Commission, created by Congress in 1975, determined that the same cultural devastation that had been inflicted upon the Sioux children, their families, and their tribes by these famous Indian Boarding Schools was, once again, being inflicted by many western and mid-western states through the implementation of racially-biased, state-administered foster care and child adoption programs such as those that are presently in operation in the state of South Dakota. South Dakota is carrying on this removal of Native children by illegally taking them from their homes and placing them in non-Native foster homes in Dec. 27, 2014
