**** PM O’Neill Opens BSP Branch in Ialibu District **** The Prime Minister, and Member of Parliament for Ialibu-Pangia, Hon. Peter ONeill CMG MP yesterday officially opened the Ialibu District Sub-branch of Bank South Pacific in the Southern Highlands province. In addressing the constituents of his electorate, the Prime Minister urged all people to engage with the bank and take ownership the services that it offered. “This bank will help you to save your money and keep it safe, and the bank will help you to invest in business ideas,” the Prime Minister said. “The services provided through this BSP branch will give power to the people to keep developing the district economically.” The Prime Minister said that Ialibu-Pangia is developing rapidly and banking services like this are essential to help the people so they do not have to travel long distances to Mount Hagen or Mendi to do their banking. Prime Minister Hon. Peter ONeill also commended the people for keeping the district peaceful and allowing for development to take place. “As the people this district work hard more developments like this will continue to take place. “One such project will be the construction of Western Pacific University, which will bring more opportunity and services into the district. “Young men and women will come from all over to be educated here and to this will also create jobs for local people while they stay in this area.” He said government has great confidence in BSP as a bank of the people. It is very helpful that BSP is offering a low interest rate at 4 percent for the people to take up loan to build their house, that they can then repay over a period 40 years. With the opening of the bank, Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill said as development takes place the district is embarking for a bigger BSP Bank branch to be opened in the near future.
