**PRESS RELEASE** May 14, 2014 12:15pm As of 11:13am today, the transfer of chemical began and continues to be successful. The plan called for a safety exclusion zone of ¼ mile around the tanker during the initial transfer. As a result, the SC Highway Patrol, SC State Transport Police, and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office conducted a rolling road block to slow down traffic on the interstate in both directions. This provided an approximate 10 minute buffer zone of no motorist traffic on the interstate during the initial transfer process. The process is going safely with no additional chemical release or additional threat to the public. Crews will continue to monitor the transfer and observe conditions for any unusual conditions or leaks and are on-scene and ready to mitigate any unusual events that might occur. However, we do not expect any unusual events or any additional threat to the public. Please stay tuned to local media outlets and our social media pages at facebook/andersoncountyes and on Twitter at #acemergency for updates. CPT Littleton
