*PROFILES IN PROPHECY: Luke 1:5-25 & Matthew 3:1-17! Who was John the Baptist? NO, he WAS NOT the founder of the Churchs Baptist Denomination as some think! He wasnt just a Prophet either! Jesus Testimony to John Reveals otherwise recorded in Matthew 11:9-10 - A Prophet, yes, and more than a Prophet! Just what did Jesus mean? *WATCH THIS, CHURCH! According to the first theme Scripture above, John was the son of Zacharias - a Priest! That made John a Priest & a Prophet in Israel(being filled with the Holy Spirit in his mothers womb, he was Anointed - Gods Choice for High Priest!). The Law of Moses clearly & plainly states that all Priests descend from Aaron & that the Priesthood is Levitical in nature - of the Tribe of Levi! Priests ARE NOT appointed or voted into office! Priests come thru the bloodline - passed from father to son! Thats right the Priesthood is actually inherited! Almighty God Appointed it so! BUT in the time of Christ, the ruling High Priest had been appointed by the king & not God! So, John the Baptist who was the rightful Anointed High Priest of Israel went into the wilderness to hear The Word of God! He heard from God alright & began preaching repentance & baptizing in the Jordan River! This was to identify to Israel the Messiah, Jesus! (John 1:32-34!) Thats why Jesus sought John out when He was about to enter into His Ministry! John the Baptist was both the rightful Anointed High Priest & The Anointed & Appointed Prophet of God in Israel in those days! To God be The Glory! Hallelujah! Amen & AMEN! Maranatha!
