[PUBLICITY TIPS] Orrin Hudson is such a good publicity student he landed a full-length feature story in USA Today shortly after attending my National Publicity Summit conference. Orrin has used the game of chess to teach over 35,000 kids the lessons of life, particularly the focus, discipline and patience required by the game – all of which can be translated to the game of life. Sure, Orrin has a great message and is highly personable but what sets him apart is the way he spoon-feeds the media with short, well-crafted sound bytes that drive home his points. For example, he tells kids to think it out, don’t shoot it out,” “put brains before bullets” as well as to “keep their heads up, pants up, grades up and never give up.” Notice how Orrin uses repetition (think it out, don’t shoot it out) to give his words more pizzazz.
