(Pakistani Muslims Insulting Islam & Mohammad yet again by misusing Blasphemy Law against 55 Christians in a land dispute) 55 Christians, three Muslims booked under Blasphemy Law Mobarik A. Virk Wednesday, September 10, 2014 ISLAMABAD: In a strange move, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station (Saddar) of Samandari in Faisalabad district has registered a blasphemy case against 55 Christians and three Muslims on the charges of desecration of a graveyard that have no visible signs of existence at all! The SHO (name not disclosed) registered the case on the complaint of a local cleric in Chak No 306 of Samandari, who alleged that the Christian community had occupied a piece of land that had once been a graveyard. The case has been registered under the ‘Blasphemy Law’. Chairman of the Pakistan Interfaith League (PIL) Sajid Ishaq said the case has been clearly registered with malicious intent. “The land belonged to the state and the poor Christian population settled there in a shanty settlement. All of a sudden a local Muslim cleric raised this issue that the Christians have established this shanty settlement over a piece of land that once was a graveyard of Muslims. There was serious tension in the area and eventually the SHO Police Station (Saddar) of Samandari lodged the FIR (First Information Report), implicating 55 Christians and three Muslims under the ‘Blasphemy Law’ for desecrating an imaginary graveyard,” Sajid said. He said while the government was already embroiled in a number of serious political as well as national issues like the devastating floods this case would only bring a bad name to the government at the international level. Sajid demanded an impartial judicial inquiry into the allegations levelled by the local Muslim cleric. “It is quite evident that the whole issue is about the possession of the state land on which the poor Christians have established a shanty settlement. It is a matter of ‘land possession dispute’ and an independent Judicial Commission can easily sort out the matter by looking through the land records if ever the land had been used as a ‘graveyard’ by Muslims or not. The PIL chairman urged an urgent response to this critical issue, which otherwise will hit the headlines internationally, bringing bad publicity for the country and the government. thenews.pk/Todays-News-2-272002-55-Christians-three-Muslims-booked-under-Blasphemy-Law
