“Panda Si Jia’s adoptive parent will be visiting her this - TopicsExpress

“Panda Si Jia’s adoptive parent will be visiting her this week”” We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to Alice Ansfield and Susan Harrison. You both acted promptly and had successfully contacted Annette Yuen, Pandas International’s consultant to CCRCGP. According to Annette, she will be traveling to Yunnan Wildlife Park to check on Si Jia. Recap: Si Jia is one of the three pandas (Si Jia 思嘉, Qian Qian 芊芊 and Mei Qian aka Mei Xi 美茜) – all females less than two years old, placed in foster care at Yunnan Wildlife Park after the Wenchuan earthquake in 2008, when Wolong National Natural Reserve in Sichuan province was damaged seriously. Si Jia is the only panda left behind in Yunnan province after the other two were sent back to Sichuan. After her best friend Mei Qian was sent back to Sichuan on March 30 2014, Si Jia became lonely showing signs of abnormal behavior, bad mood, and depression. Zoo staff have provided Si Jia with her own television to cheer her up, placed a stuff panda at Mei Qian’s enclosure as its new neighbor. Si Jia seemingly gotten better. However, for the past three months, we have observed she looks sad and quiet, and appears a lot thinner than before. 6 years has passed, it is time for Si Jia to leave her foster home and return to her home town Sichuan where her friends and family are living. We want our happy Si Jia back. We love you, Si Jia! If you have not read the message from Annette, please see below. It is posted on FB “Tai Shans Very Important Panda - VIP FB Page”: For all those concerned about Si Jia’s health: The following is from Annette Yuen this morning: Dr. Wang, the Head of the veterinary staff at the Bifengxia Giant Panda Reserve, called Yunnan Park this morning to check on Si Jia’s health. Si Jia’s vet at Yunnan Park said that there is nothing wrong with her. There was a misunderstanding between the person that was visiting and Si Jia’s keeper, Ms Li, because Ms. Li only speaks Yunnanese. Between the two there was literally something lost in translation which resulted in the reports about Si Jia being sick. Si Jia is not sick. Annette will go to Yunnan Park this coming week to visit Si Jia and talk to Si Jia’s keeper and vet as well. Annette said that it is true that Si Jia sometimes loses her appetite because she may not like the bamboo being offered. However, overall Si Jia is healthy. Once Annette has visited Si Jia she will let us know more. For now, please don’t worry. Si Jia is fine. Original link: https://facebook/TaiShans7thBirthdayCelebration
