~Parent-child relationship~ As special as a parent-child relationship can be, it can also be laden with complexities. Some children find their parents’ authoritative attitude oppressive while parents find their children as insolent and ungrateful. When parents have a constant disapproving and critical behavior, children will feel misunderstood and rejected. It will give rise to rebellious attitudes on their part. When both sides are unwilling to compromise or show understanding, this will create a high level of detachment. These are not qualities favorable to a peaceful family life. Parent-child is a deep and nurturing relationship, the most fundamental relationship in shaping a person as an ethical and mentally stable human being. Try hard to get along by lessening critical attitudes on both sides. Develop the ability to resist negative feelings towards each other. Affection needs to be expressed everyday. One way is to focus on an activity which you both enjoy doing. You might find a sudden fascination for each other, eradicating tensions and mistrust.
