Planning for People: A Community Charter for Good Planning in NSW (the Charter) is a 2 page document that sets a community vision, key principles and desired outcomes for good planning in NSW. To endorse the Charter as an individual go to: thecommunitycharter.org/ The Charter is accompanied by a Companion document that details these principles and outcomes, as well as some of the mechanisms through which the Charter could be implemented. Endorsing the Charter means that you or your organisation agrees with and supports its contents. Endorsement of the Charter acknowledges the issues raised in its Companion document. The names of all organisations who have endorsed the Charter, as well as candidates for the 2015 NSW State Elections, are listed on this website. Who was it prepared by? The Charter and its Companion were prepared by a working group of community organisations in consultation with the Better Planning Network, Community Councillors Network, Inner Sydney Regional Council for Social Development, National Parks Association of NSW, National Trust of Australia (NSW), Nature Conservation Council of NSW, NSW Heritage Network, Shelter NSW and the Total Environment Centre. What is its purpose? The Charter has been developed for use by a wide range of groups and individuals in the lead-up to the NSW Elections in March 2015, to put the need for good planning on the agenda of voters and candidates.
