****Please share***** Today is April 2nd. 5 years ago this date meant nothing to me. Just another random day in April...It was insignificant....Until it wasnt. 1 in 68. If that number doesnt mean anything to you keep reading.....It soon will. Today is Autism Awareness day. This month is Autism Awareness month. In case you havent heard our story before (I wont go into too much detail) here it is... Aiden was born on August 2, 2006 with a light in his eyes. He was giggly and smiley and loved snuggles. And some time around 13 months old the giggles stopped and the smiling stopped, the light in his eyes went out and soon after his language stopped as well. He screamed when you touched him, he screamed when you didnt touch him, he would throw himself onto the concrete and bang his head into it, he would hide behind the toilet in the bathroom (the smallest area he could possibly fit into) and soon the moaning replaced the words, and the hand flapping replaced the snuggles. This was Autism. Autism stole our little boy. It stole the light in his eyes and we wanted it back. We threw ourselves into information, we stopped conventional treatment and started seeing a biomedical doctor. We changed his nutrition and started ABA therapy. We went into debt. I went into depression. But soon we came out of debt. I came out of depression. We see the light in his eyes again. 2 1/2 years after we lost his voice we found it again. Now, he can tell us his emotions, when hes sleepy, when hes tired, that he loves us. We have our boy back. Autism doesnt have to steal them forever. The numbers are 1 in 68 now. They say its from better testing. I dont believe it. I believe they are scrambling. I believe that a world full of environmental toxins stole my child. I believe that it doesnt happen to everyone YET because there is a genetic pre-disposition to auto-immune disorders. His body couldnt handle it. His body told us that something was wrong. Believe what you want to believe. But 1 in 68 is terrifying and its not stopping. They cant use the excuse for better testing next time...I wonder what they will say then? 1 in 68! If it doesnt scare you it should.....
