#PolymerArtChallenge Facebook Art Jewelry Challenge initiated by Donna Greenberg. Rules: for 5 days, the nominated artist will show one of her/ his pieces, and also nominate one other artist to do the same. Day #3 - After reading about rai stones found on the island of Yap in Micronesia, I was inspired to create these Rai pendants. The originals are huge limestone carvings that were threaded on logs and rolled from place to place as currency. Exposure to the elements over the years created a beautiful weathered surface. My goal was to recreate not just the irregular disc shape, but also to incorporate both rough and smooth textures on the pendant face. I have always been drawn to circles, and I love making these pendants. I nominate Michele Gabriel Studios for the challenge!
