[Post # 731] Latu Maharaj [later Swami Adbhutananda] used to spend his days at a bathing ghat near a Shiva temple and his nights on the terrace of the ‘chandni’ (porch) at Baghbazar ghat, where he practised japam and meditation. When someone asked him how he spent his days when it rained, Latu Mahraj replied: Well, near the ghat there used to be many empty railway cars. I would get into one. When the rain stopped, I would get out again. Once I got into a car and did not notice when it was hooked up to the engine and pulled away. The next day several porters came and asked me to leave the car. I asked them where I was, and they told me I was at Chitpore. What could be done? I had to walk back to the Baghbazar ghat. Since then I stopped taking shelter in railway cars. When it rained I would leave the terrace and take shelter in a corner of the ‘chandni’. The police at the ‘chandni’ knew me and would not trouble me.
