*Preppie Family/Friends: Many of you are curious about the upcoming holiday breaks. Please check the Photos section of our fb page to find the academic calendar for the 2014-2015 school year. The calendar displays all the breaks for your planning pleasure. We are coded as PL on the calendar. As many of you know, our school year began approximately 3 weeks after the Air Force Academy Cadets reported for their BMT. We also operate under a 10-week quarter system, while the Academy is under a semester system. Some other differences between the Prep School and the Air Force Academy are that our students are actually enlisted in the Air Force, thereby holding an enlisted Airmen status and accruing leave in accordance with Air Force guidelines. Because Cadets fall under different leave guidelines than the Air Forces enlisted guidelines, they may be able to begin their holiday break one or two days earlier than our Preppies. However, by the time the holiday break comes around, our Preppies have only accrued enough leave to be absent during the times indicated. If we were to release them on Tuesday, vice Wednesday morning at 0900, we would actually have to charge them an extra day of leave (which some havent earned yet), and it could result in a financial hardship for the Preppies at the end of the school year.
