Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves Visits And Comments On The Progress Of The Argyle International Airport by Picasso John Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has said that while there has been a number of setbacks on the work at the Argyle International Airport, he is pleased with the progress of the project thus far. He made this statement last evening as he concluded a tour of the facility which was held for Members of Cabinet, to get a firsthand view of progress being made on the International Airport. Prime Minister Gonsalves said work on a number of projects including the Fire Station and the Control Tower are on schedule The Prime Minister said one of the main setbacks has been in receiving funds which had been earmarked for work on the airport from a number of developers but however the work is continuing. Prime Minister Gonsalves added that the removal of the Petroglyphs and the hill on which they were located was also a setback due to a number of issues but this has now been done and work is ongoing. Meanwhile Chief Executive Officer of the International Airport Development Company (IADC) Dr. Rudy Matthias, says they expect construction work on the Argyle International Airport to be substantially completed by the end of this year. Dr. Matthias said following the construction work they will then start work to ensure that the airport becomes operation by the middle of 2015. Dr. Mathias added that during the first half of 2015 they will be conducting a significant amount of work to prepare the airport to start receiving flights.
