#PublicHealth Four new born babies died in Doon Female Hospital on Saturday Oct 11 and Sunday Oct 12. I offer my deep condolences to the parents and families who lost their babies. Their pain is surely unbearable. Let us all pray and ask God to give them the courage to face this tragedy. While we empathize with the parents, we also need to demand deep and sincere introspection from the hospital authorities. Reports are emerging that the nurses turned away the father of the baby and then the doctor arrived late. There are allegations that one of the ventilators was not working. We are also hearing that some of the deliveries were premature and the babies could not be saved. As we seek answers for this gruesome mishap, it is important that the Health Dept. and the concerned doctors and nurses take corrective actions immediately. The entire truth must come out and the guilty should be punished as per rules and regulations. We often talk about the cruel forces of nature repeatedly battering our disaster torn state of Uttarakhand. Let us at least ensure that we do not allow man- made tragedies to increase our suffering and pain further.
